Just a word to whoever comes across this to say a prayer for the neighborhood in Kensington that had a major fire last night. It appears to be next door to one of the houses that is part of the Simple Way in Philly. We were just staying in that house a month ago, and they were doing some beautiful things there. I am not sure of the details but I am pretty sure that you can see them hosing off part of this building...This is where we were staying in with Shane Claiborne and some others
Here is that building being hosed down as near as I can tell...

update:
I just talked with some of the partner communities from the new monasticism movement in North Carolina. They verified that one of the Simple way houses did catch on fire last night, but that everyone got out alright. I know a lot of time and effort has been put into that house, and a lot of ministry was going on there. so please keep them all in your prayers.
I remember people in the house telling us that the warehouse across the street caught on fire so much that the fire department had just broken out all the windows so that they could put it out faster the next time. Makes you wonder why they had not torn it down or done something about it. We saw kids running around on top of it from our window when we were there. Pretty Crazy!

I hate to hear that the house burned. Maybe its not a total loss. I'm glad that everyone got out alright.
